A person is more than the sum of his business activities. Anton Botha's farming and stock breeding interests point to the individuality of the man and his strong feeling for the land of his birth. After starting his career at Transnet, Anton moved to South African Airways where he was responsible for the creation/management of the frequent flyer programme, Voyager. In less than three years it was ranked among the top five in the world, with a membership of over 600 000. Its advertising garnered top awards including a Grand Prix Loerie.
In 1998 Anton joined Guardian National as CEO of Guardian Direct. He turned a R30m loss in January 1998 into a R2m monthly profit in April 1999, and improved turnover of R14m to a projected R121m. Anton joined the advertising industry by moving to Gitam in 1999. He then joined The Agency as Senior Strategic Planner, and in April 2000 was promoted to Managing Director of Action Agency. Anton formed his own company, The Cheese Has Moved, specialising in all aspects of Marketing Communications in June, 2002.
Salomé started her career in 1990, when she held the position of Senior Forecaster at the Dairy Board in Pretoria . She joined South African Airways in 1991, where her responsibility was forecasting of passenger volumes and fleet planning. Her forté was working with the airline's varied databases and database management. Management Information Support to top management soon became a big portion of her responsibility. In 1995 she was promoted to Relationship Marketing Manager in Voyager - the frequent flyer programme of South African Airways - where she handled the maintenance and segmentation of the database (of over 600 000 members).
She was also the Editor of Altitude, the Voyager magazine, and was responsible for all the Direct Marketing Campaigns of Voyager that allowed her to gain invaluable experience. Her position was upgraded to Senior Relationship Marketing Manager in 1999. She took a "sabbatical" until April 2000, after which she was offered the position as Senior Strategic Planner at both The Agency and Action Agency - a position she held for two years. She is a founder member of The Cheese Has Moved.
Spanning a 25-year career, Ian has worked on both the client and agency side. For three years he was Client Service Director at Woolward Royds Edinburgh, handling Scottish Tourist Board advertising in the UK and, in co-operation with the British Tourism Authority, to the rest of the world. For four years, commencing in 1994, he was in charge of all worldwide marketing communication for South African Airways.
This covered major advertising and public relations campaigns, as well as the development and launch of Voyager. Ian held the position of Deputy Managing Director of The Agency and was responsible for the operation of Strategic Planning, Creative, Production, Media, Management Operations and Client Service. Since 2001, Ian has consulted for many top corporate companies in the marketing communications field. He is currently a founder member of The Cheese Has Moved.
Hans' speciality is working closely with clients and building strong relationships with them. Hans has a strong client focus and always aims to act to the benefit of his clients and his company. Hans was previously employed by The Department of Foreign Affairs and was based in Poland and Italy over a period of six years. During this time he worked closely with SATOUR to promote South Africa in the eastern European countries.
He assisted with the strategy and implementation of many world-class exhibitions and fairs throughout eastern Europe. He has an excellent understanding of the European tourist (business and leisure) and their attitude towards South Africa . Hans joined The Agency in 2000 as a Client Service Director for Action Agency. He handled a variety of clients such as Fedhealth, RentWorks, South African Express Airways and many more. He joined The Cheese Has Moved in 2002.
